Welcome to our story

Seal’s Family Farm, owned by Shane and Hope Seal, is a small yet growing homestead located in the Louisiana countryside in Mount Hermon. The couple has two children, Hunter and Gage, who both went on to become college graduates with Hunter working in the electrical field and Gage becoming a welder. Hunter was married to his wife Bailey in July of 2023, where they then began their journey of life in Elizabeth, LA. Bailey works as an accountant in Deridder, LA. Together they are welcoming a baby boy in October of 2024. Gage will marry his fiancé, Brianna, a pediatric nurse in Covington, LA in November of 2024. They live on the farm and assist in day-to-day operations.

Shane is employed as a Training Competency Assessor at Cameron LNG, while Hope works as a special education teacher in Livingston Parish. They bonded over their shared love of nature and wildlife which led them to embark on a journey of raising Catahoula Cur Dogs, these dogs eventually became well-known for their natural obedience and size. The couple later expanded their venture to include Beefmaster cows after Gage approached them with the desire to raise cattle. After many weeks of research, they stumbled upon a program ran by the USDA that aids children to grow into farmers. With the assistance of this program, Gage purchased three Beefmaster cows. It soon became apparent that Shane had fallen in love with the cattle, and together Shane and Gage have since substantially grown their herd, all while adding a large variety of animals each year to the homestead.

The farm has continued to grow each year, and in late 2023, the exponential growth of the farm became apparent, surpassing the families’ initial expectations. Their mission of raising and promoting the welfare of livestock, and giving back to their community has led to the realization that a dream that they once thought was impossible, can become a reality with patience and hard work.
